The short version
BraveDay has no accounts, and we keep no copy of your family anywhere. Your children's names, birth months, journal entries, and activity stay on your phone. We cannot read them, sell them, or lose them, because we never receive them. If you turn on Plus personalization, the app sends us a small set of anonymous, structured signals (described below) to write your cards; it never includes a name, a note, or anything you typed.
What the app keeps, and where
The app keeps everything you enter (your children, journal notes, and which cards you played) right on your phone. Deleting the app deletes it. If you back your phone up yourself, for example with iCloud or Google, that backup is yours and stays under your own account.
Children's data
The app is designed for parents, not children, and asks only for a first name (or nickname) and birth month and year per child, used only on your phone to pick the right card for each child's age. We never receive this information. The app contains no third-party advertising and no social features.
Plus personalization
With a Plus subscription, tonight's card can be written for your family by an AI model. To do that, the app sends our server only anonymous, structured signals: each child's age in years and age band (never a name; children are labeled "Child A", "Child B"), the titles of cards you already played, the one-tap reactions you chose, interest tags picked from a fixed list, and a random device identifier used only to prevent abuse. There is no field for names, journal notes, or free text, so they cannot be sent even by accident.
We pass these signals to OpenAI to generate the card, with data retention disabled, and we do not store your requests on our server beyond a short technical cache. Personalization is optional: switch it off in Settings and the app uses its built-in deck, fully offline. It is also off automatically whenever you are offline or not subscribed.
What we do collect
This website keeps standard, short-lived visit logs (your device's IP address and the page it requested) to keep the site secure and online. If you opt in to purchases, Apple or Google and our payment processor handle the transaction; we receive an anonymous receipt, never your card details. If we add optional, privacy-respecting crash reporting or analytics to the app, it will be disclosed here first and will never include journal or child data.
